Metadata
Song release metadata checklist
Metadata is the small set of labels that keeps a beat, demo, or release understandable after it leaves your session. Write it down before files move between producer, artist, manager, and distributor.
Project basics
- Project title exactly as it should appear in the handoff.
- Artist name and featured artist names, using final capitalization.
- Producer name or production team credit.
- BPM and key for the artist, engineer, and future catalog search.
- Contact line for revisions, questions, or missing files.
- Delivery date so everyone knows which packet is current.
Example metadata summary
Project title: Midnight Loop
Artist name: Ari
Producer name: Nova
BPM: 92
Key: C minor
Contact line: [email protected]
Delivery date: 2026-05-18
Before you send
- Match the project title with the folder name and reference mix file name.
- Check that the producer credit matches the credit line in the deal notes.
- Do not rely on memory for BPM and key if the session has changed.
