Beat handoff

Beat handoff packet checklist

A beat handoff packet keeps the practical details in one place before a producer sends files to an artist, manager, or collaborator. It should be short, copyable, and specific enough that both sides can see what is ready and what still needs confirmation.

What to include

  • Project title, artist name, producer name, BPM, key, contact line, and delivery date.
  • Deal terms checklist covering license type, stems, usage limits, monetization, credit, and receipt link.
  • Working split notes for contributors, master percentages, publishing percentages, PRO/IPI, and notes.
  • Stem delivery note covering folder contents, file format, sample rate, BPM/key confirmation, reference mix, and missing items.

Example output

Project: Midnight Loop
Artist: Ari
Producer: Nova
License type: Non-exclusive lease
Stems included: Yes
Split notes: Nova, producer, master 100%, publishing 100%
Folder contents: Full WAV stems, reference mix, and README

Common missing items

  • No receipt or agreement link saved near the files.
  • Stems sent without BPM, key, or sample rate notes.
  • Credit line agreed in chat but not copied into the handoff.
  • Split percentages discussed verbally but not written down.
